Help moving gift IPOD VIDEO library to my computer

My brother gave me his IPOD video after his computer crashed. He has roughly 2,900 songs with some being purchased from IPOD store. How can I put these songs onto my computer and mix the songs that currently exist on my computer on to this IPOD. I definitly do no want to format it.

I have windows xp pro sp2, itunes just downloaded it today. Start Free Trial
