SSL POP3 Support on MAC

Asked by missmuppet in Mac OS X

Tags: ,

I have a customer running a linux distro called esmith or smeserver. I have set the box up as a mail server, the customer has a number of windows machines and one MAC laptop. The POP3 and SMTP configuration is done over SSL. All the PC work fine however the MAC does not seem to authenticate. It keeps coming back saying incorrect username and password.

With the other machines I notice you have to accept a certificate warning prior to the email client downloading the email, this is becuse the mail server box has its own self signed certificate. I am wondering weather this is the problem? Aslo I know with MAC sometimes they format for username and password can be a bit different. Client MAC is using entourage.

I have checked configuration for accoutn inclduing Ports etc but know change.

Any help would be appreciatedStart Free Trial
