The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Matshita, DVD-RAM, UJ-830S, slimline multi in Toshiba Tecra M3, D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function

Toshiba Tecra M3 - came with Matshita CD/DVD drive.  Will not recognize a CD or DVD unless something on it.  Have tried several brands or CD and DVD's.

Will correctly deal with CD or DVD with content (files, audio, video).

Problem existed even when had Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 on it, but have recently put in new hard drive (after corrupted) and loaded OS and all SW from scratch - Roxio not yet put back on.  When it was on,  could write to blank CD/DVD using Roxio- and now can do image burn by using Imgburn.

Had difficulty creating Norton Ghost recovery disk as Ghost would not recognize any writable media in drive when came to writing to make a bootable CD.  When instead put in bootable disk created by imgburn  on CD-RW, Ghost grabbed all the data, then erased the CD, and then successfully wrote a bootable recovery disk

There is no updated driver for Matshita - which seems to be a pseudonym for Panasonic OEM product in Toshiba laptop, and no manufacturer (Toshiba or Panasonic) seems to support this drive.  I THINK I tried reinstallation of driver at some point, and now do not seem to have a fresh copy of driver around (haven't googled it lately).

Any thoughts?  I have another computer with a fully functional DVD/CD  burner, and I have worked around this issue, but would like the CD/DVD drive on the Toshiba laptop to be fully functional/
