The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Unable to Connec to Network Printer: The server for the 'Canon iR C4080/C4580 PCL5c' printer does not have the correct printer driver installed

Asked by tsimsa in Printers, Miscellaneous Hardware, Windows XP Operating System

I have a new Dell D630 laptop running Windows XP SP2. Recently my company added a new Canon 4850i Copier/Printer/Fax machine. The drivers were installed on the compay's Print/Storage sever (Windows 2003 Server). Everyone else in the company is able to connect and add the new printer to their printers and faxes list except me. When I try to connect I get the message "The server for the 'Canon iR C4080/C4580 PCL5c' printer does not have the correct printer driver installed", but the driver has to be good since everyone else is using it successfully. I have also tried to Add Printer locally to the TCP/IP port. When I do that I get the error, "Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed". I have tried 5 different print drivers, nothing associated with that printer will connect. I am able to add other TCP/IP port printers from that server. I have also tried deleting the port and adding it again. I have also tried loading the software (the same as it was loaded on the server using the setupexe) and get the error, "An error occurred during the processing of driver 'Canon iR 5570/iR6570 PCL 5e' -- which is not the driver that I selected (I know I did this a couple of times to make sure I picked the right one -- same message each time.
