The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Visual Studio 2008 not recognizing Ajax Control Toolkit 3.5

Asked by cciservices in Visual Studio, .NET Framework 3.x versions

I am running into an issue using the Ajax Control Tookit 3.5 with VS2008. Here is my scenario below.

I have a new install of Windows Vista with SP1, all updates, and just installed Visual Studio 2008 Pro.
Downloaded Ajax Control Toolkit (I've tried both "no source" and "with source") version 3.5.
Ran the VSI file (didn't seem to do anything as I don't see any new templates later on)
Copied the AjaxControlToolkit.dll to a folder on my c: drive (in program files/ms visual studio 9)
Created new regular .NET website 3.5
Added the Toolkit controls to my toolbox AJAX Extensions tab (this works fine)
Added a reference to that Toolkit.dll file located on my c: drive (success, it shows up in my bin)
On the new blank Default.aspx page, I added ScriptManager
Then I added a Panel from the design side and choose Add Extender and choose the DropShadowExtender (I'm just testing with very basic stuff)
I flip over to the source mode and I can see the <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %> on the top.
But my Toolkit control has green squiggly lines under "cc1", "enabled", "id"... etc
When I run the page, I get a:  Parser Error - Unknown server tag 'cc1:DropShadowExtender'

I have done all of this before in the past with VS2005, and with AJAX 1.0 / Toolkit 1.0.

Does anyone have any ideas?
