ActiveSync connects but does not sync. "cannot be completed successfully"

I have been syncing with my XV6800 and Windows XP (running on parallels on a MacBook Pro, activesync version 4.6 on Windows Mobile 6) for quite a while now. Last week, it stopped synchronizing with Windows, giving me an error stating "Synchronization cannot be completed succesfully. reconnect your device and try again...." and it suggests using the troubleshooter.

I've reconnected the device, rebooted the computer and Paralles (multiple times), done a soft-reset on the XV6800 to no avail. WHen I use the ActiveSync troubleshooter, it tells me that it is conflicting with ZoneAlarm. That would be an easy fix, except that I DO NOT and never had ZoneAlarm installed on this computer. I am running Kaspersky but the firewall is on the server. I am not running Windows Firewall on this PC.

I have tried a number of solutions online but have no fix for this. Most of my exchange is done over the air, but I like this for backup and the CallLog software I have.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without hard resetting and hoping for the best?
