The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need help finding ink-to-text solution for Windows XP Pro

Asked by FASTECHS in Windows Tablet, Windows XP Operating System, PC Laptops

Hello,

We have a customer who recently bought an HP TX1000 laptop tablet PC from us but here is the scenario: She needed to have Windows XP installed for compatibility reasons, not Vista Home. So the install went fine and all, but we noticed that upon installing all drivers and such, the laptop does not function as a tablet off the bat. After some time researching, we found out that XP Tablet edition is truly needed to get all the functions working as they should, but we cannot get a copy of XP Tablet for purchase and cannot afford to wipe her unit again.

We got limited tablet functions working on the laptop through a program called TouchKit which imitates somes of XP Tablet's functionality, but not all. She primarily works with long text documents, and one of the main reasons she got a tablet was to use the Ink to Text feature in Windows. However, without XP Tablet edition this is  not possible as Writing Pad cannot be installed seperately. BUMMER!

We are looking to see if there is any third party solution which emulates this ink to text function of XP Tablet without a reload. Preferrably freeware or open source. We already have the ability to write directly in OneNote, but this does not convert to text. We need to have the ability to write naturally with the tablet pen in a given area of the screen and have it converted into regulr text for Word.
