The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Can't access Internet since Spyware Infection

I was recently attacked by an internet spyware program that left me with a changed background saying that I had been infected and to click a button to fix (which I didn't) and also a screensaver which emulated a BSOD and a reboot which was fake.  I ran spybot and got rid of the infection the best I could and in the end because of 0x0000007B error on reboot, I repaired windows and managed to sort most things out but one thing is still not working.  The internet doesn't work.  I have a wireless system with a router and another machine on my network has not problem with the internet and on this infected laptop I can access my VPN at work and I can collect and send emails but IE or firefox just stumble on "Website found waiting for reply" or similar.  I can ping the router but can't ping the DNS server.  I have run SP3 to see if it fixed any network problems and I have tried ipconfig /flushdns and forced a dns server in the IP properties but I still can't access the web.  I have also tried a wired network and it still doesn't work. Anyone know what else I can try.  I really don't want to re-install windows if I can help it.  I have so much stuff on here its untrue.
