The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help with Quickbooks multi user set up

Asked by warriorfan808 in Quicken Financial Software, Miscellaneous Networking, Quickbooks Financial Software

I'm having some issues with Quickbooks.  I had 3 users working sharing 1 file on a server.
All users have XP Pro and are authenticated into the same domain.
Each user is also the Administrator on their workstation.
I have 6 seperate Quickbooks files in seperate folders within one shared folder.  All the users are added to the Folder with full Share permissions and full NTFS permissions.

Everything worked fine.

I later had to have a new user added.  I set up a workstation to the domain.  I added the user to the local Administrator group on that workstation and gave her full Share and NTFS permissions on the network.  Here's the kicker, which I can't see how it would be a problem.  I have the user going through a VPN and going remote desktop into that workstation from a remote location.

After adding a new user, I needed to add the quickbooks file she was working on into the Shared Folder.  I made sure that the folder and all the files within that folder inherit permissions.

The user logged on and then Quickbooks requested that we go to the computer housing the file and open it into Multi user mode.  We did this and it worked.  The problem now is that we need to open up the file every single time.

We also updated each installation and rebooted.

Any help would be great.  This is very urgent and if I could I would give 1000 points!Start Free Trial
