The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Configuring AT & T, 2wire gateway and Eudora e-mail

Asked by jackowens in Eudora Email Client

Dear Friends,

I'm having a particularly thorny problem with configuring a) AT & T, b) 2wire wireless gateway and c) my Eudora email program.

After hours of attempted tech support with AT & T, they got my Hewlett-Packard Windows Vista Ultimate dv9700t laptop configured so that I can send and receive e-mail, but I still can't download e-mail using my Windows XP, SP2, desktop computer.

I apparently have the right password, which works on my laptop.  The procedure leading up to the error messages on my Desktop are, first:

When I open Eudora (version 7.0.1.0) and click on the download icon, the error message I get is, "Error writing to network.  Cause: connection aborted due to timeout or other failure [10053]".  Also given in the same text-space is, "ERR [AUTH] invalid user/password]".

I then go to <Special> in the menu bar and from the drop-down list select <Change Password...>.  That brings up an <Enter Password> window and I type in the password that worked on my laptop and I am asked to type it in 2 more times.  Since I get no "wrong password" message what I've typed seems to be valid.

After typing it the third time, I get a pop-up window saying, "Establishing Newwork Connection... Contacting pop-sbc.mail.yahoo4.akadns.net [216.252.120.29]".  Then I get another pop-up telling me, "Could not connect to 'pop.att.yahoo.com'  Cause: connection timed out {10060}"

Does anyone know how to get around that?

      Regards to all,

                                                               Jack Owens
