Cannot get internet through router

I have this new laptop and it sees everything on my home network okay but will not connect to the internet.  I am using a D-Link DI-514 router.  In the wireless settings on the laptop I have the Ad Hoc Channell 802.11 b/g set to the same channel as the router and the Wireless Mode is set to 802.11a/b/gStart Free Trial
