The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

still being hacked , is it possible through pinging ?

How does someone protect their computer from being pinged?  Is it possible for someone to ping your computer ( even though you have a router and firewall ) through yahoo messenger?  I have win xp home edition,  I have sbc with a 2 wire router and I have NIS2007  I also use markjansen and black vipers guides to tighten the security on my computer but alas I am afraid someone has been able to either hack into my computer or at least trace me through yahoo messenger ( meaning getting my ip and finding where I am at all times )   I know I cannot make my computer completely hacker proof ( it would take more knowledge and software programs than I have and probably end up with it still not being enough since hackers are becoming more inventive every day )  I even went so far as to change my ip address (  ipconfig / release /  renew )

Is it possible to make my mac address only accept connections from my pc or only pcs on my network?   I say network ( hope I'm using the term correctly ) I have 5 computers some with NIS 2007  some with Zone alarm internet security 2007  we only have 1 printer connected to 1 computer.  all computers have routers 2 on 1  and 3 on the other.  Not Wireless they are all ethernet connections.

I have a person who is following me with everything i say on my yahoo messenger and every place I go they follow me and annoy me to death.  They made an id  pinging you .  This made me think they were pinging my ip address which I've read up on and have realised they can do this with direct connects through say yahoo messenger, can they do this when I logged into a yahoo website but not on messenger?  Can they do this if I am NOT talking on yahoo messenger to anyone but just have it on?

I've even wiped my drive ( 35 times ) formated my computer and yet again when I connect to my yahoo mesenger first it starts shutting down, then it tells me my password didn't work, so I shut it off yet I am still followed.  And harassed.

How can I find out who is doing it ( they keep switching ids )  or if the person who keeps messaging me or leaving offlines with me is the same person?  and how do I stop them?  Yes, I've reported them basically I'm told that since they aren't stealing anything but my privacy there is basically nothing the police can do.  They haven't threatened me with harm, they haven't stolen money. They are just constantly following me and harassing me.  I've considered hiring a computer forensic analysis to get rid of them.  If I go to a yahoo game room they join my games with very vulger ids,  always letting me know its them, if I play my kids they make ids repeating everything we say and every website we visit.  Its too expensive to get rid of all my computers so please any suggestions?   I"m not a computer genius but I've tried so very hard ,  I've done the research to secure my computer I am just not sure where to go from here.  I am not afraid of trying or testing anything to find out how they are doing it.  I know about netstat I've used it,  but I can never seem to find out how they are finding me,  NO, its not someone who lives with me or is around me, no one but me and the " stalker aka hacker w/e u decided to call them ) is doing it.  My system scans clean for viruses or trojans even adaware and spam.

No one but me, my husband and chiildren have physical access to our computers.  I do not get help remotely, I have turned off all remote access and sharing folders.  Like I said before I asked for help I have tried everything.

Please help.  If I could give out more than 500 points for this I would Start Free Trial
