The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Popup quandry

So my boss and I are stumped on this and could use some help.
We're working on a computer running XP Pro.  The user states that she keeps getting pornographic popups at home.  

We bring it into the office (no we don't connect it to our network) - and run every tool we can think of on this computer to clean it.  A/V, spyware, HiJackThis, it's got a firewall and popup blocking software.  We found a few cookies - nothing of any real significance, and no symptoms.  So, my boss takes it home, connects to her neighbor's unsecured wireless network (trying to force something to happen) and no luck.  So as far as we can tell, life is wonderful.

We give it back to the user, she fires up IE, and gets a popup for some webpage that someone of her age certainly doesn't want to see.  It seems the popups only come through on her network; but not on other computers - another computer in the house is just fine.

We're about ready to format, but that's gonna be a nightmare for this user since she's so picky about settings.  I can't help but think there's just something we're missing.Start Free Trial
