The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Can't install Adobe Illustrator 13.0.1 or 13.0.2 update

Asked by uzzidesign in Adobe Illustrator, Windows XP Operating System, Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard)

Another user received the following error message using AI CS3 WinXP:
"The update cannot be applied. Please reinstall the product and try again."

I am receiving the error message using AI CS3 Mac 10.5.2 Leopard:
"An error occurred during installation. This update cannot be applied to the product."

For the other user it was suggested to run the following script from Adobe:
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html

However, my situation is a bit different as I am on a different OS, getting a different error, and I did not install CS3 over any previous Beta or Pre-Release version as the Adobe page suggests. In fact, I installed a Full Retail Version of CS3 on a new copy of Leopard on a freshly formatted HD. I am reluctant to run this Adobe Script because I just don't have time in my production schedule to go through all the steps in the readme, which is littered with warnings. I guess I am wondering if anyone experiencing my specific problems has already run the script and if it was successful for them. If not, does anyone have any suggestions at all?
