Photoshop script to batch reduce compress images (save for web?)

Hi,

I have over 5,000 JPG images which I want to burn on a DVD, but they won't fit on it. I'm looking for a Photoshop script (I'm using CS2) that will load all the images from a given folder, and lower its resolution. I need your help in 2 things:

1. Determine which resolution is optimal for my case - I will give you more details based on your approach. Generally all the images now weight about 5.17 GB, and I want them to weight about 4.3-4.4 so I can put 2-3 avi files too. I have no problem whatsoever to reduce the resolution, compress the image (as long as quality remains) and discard EXIF data and other stuff.

2. Create the script/action to do what I need based on the parameters decided on phase #1.

Thanks in advance,
