The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

version check, download and install updated files

I have made several websites that use the same admin / content update files. (I have made a simple CMS.) I use PHP and MySQL.

Sometimes I make an improvement on one or more of the files on one of the websites and to make all websites updated I have to manually open the FTP accounts for all and update the files that way.

I am wondering if there could be a way to have a version check system instead.
Let's assume I have one "mother site" that always has the latest updates.
On the mother site I have a file (a text file?) that tells what version of the CMS that is the latest, lets say its version 5, and from the version 4 the images.php file has been updated.

When I or my customer opens a "child site" that is dated version 4, it first checks with the mother site what version that is the latest (5) and compares it with the version of the child site (4).

Now I am assuming what can be done:
It then downloads a package of some sort (?) and unpacks it and install the latest updates to the files (that is in this case to replace the old images.php with the new one).

This would all be made automatically, not requiring that anything was downloaded to the local computer.

IS THIS POSSIBLE? Or am I just dreaming?
I set the points of this question low to a beginning, and if it becomes a lot of work then I will raise the points.Start Free Trial
