The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SEO implications: www.blog.mysite.com

Asked by tuffus in Internet Search Engine Optimization, Web Servers

Hi

Issue 1.

I maintain a site www.mysite.com and the owner wants to add a blog like this www.blog.mysite.com

Are there any SEO implications to doing this or would it be better to do www.mysite.com/blog/ and if so why?

The rest of the content is basically behind a login screen (because the info needs to be secure) so the blog will primarily be used to present content on the subject matter and to get ranking for its subject keywords.

Issue 2.
The owner wants to use wordpress but says the hosting company won't allow him to put Wordpress on the server the main site is hosted on because of security reasons, saying the information on the server entered from the login part of the site would be at risk if Wordpress was added. If the blog is put on another server it will have a different IP to the main site and i'm wondering if this would have any SEO implications.

Are there any SEO issues regarding 2 parts of the same site having different IP i.e
IP No.1 = www.mysite.com
IP No.2 = www.mysite.com/blog/ or www.blog.mysite.com [depending on the past to position the blog, see issue 1]

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
